Without a doubt, watches play an important role in our daily lives. It not only sharpens up a look, but it also fulfills a primarily practical purpose—telling the time. So for most people, the usual silver, gold, black, or whatever else is more than enough. But for those who wish to highlight the “fun” in function, have luck on their side with Mad Hudson Watches.

Designer Mad Hudson is the namesake of the brand, and alongside co-founders Brad Podray and Connor Hudson, they create the most un-boring, one-of-a-kind timepieces through collaborations with amazing artists. This year saw the release of Mad Hudson Watches' first three designs: Broken Time, CD Watch, and Dogma.

To make every Mad Hudson watch package as genuinely on-brand as possible—weirdly cool and intensively creative—they partnered with noissue for their very own custom eco-packaging duo. Their dedication to excellent design in both product and packaging, which coincides with their commitment to sustainability, makes this partnership all the more effortless.
Tell us a bit about your brand!
Mad Hudson Watches is a collision of art, time, and storytelling. We collaborate with artists to create watches that feel less like accessories and more like artifacts. Every design is original, every release is a little unpredictable, the goal is simple and a little ambitious: create the most unique watch designs in the world.

Tell us about your packaging, how you’re using it, and the importance of it for your brand.
When someone orders a Mad Hudson Watch, we want the experience to begin the moment they see the package on their doorstep.

Our packaging should feel like an extension of the brand’s visual language in ways beyond the watch itself. We want to build a fun and unmistakable little house for these time machines.
What made noissue a good fit for your packaging?
We needed some striking and sustainable packaging options to get these first watches out into the world. noissue has let us design our packaging in a way that’s truly unique, without sacrificing function or wrecking the planet.

We’re a small brand doing everything with intention and we’ve loved having a partner who can match our level of care while giving us the creative freedom to get weird with it.
Where are you finding inspiration for Mad Hudson Watches and in life at the moment?
Vintage watch ads from the ’70s, bad sci-fi radio shows, and strange corners of the internet where art and nonsense intersect.

We think Happy Gilmore 2 was exactly what it needed to be. It wasn’t perfect, but nothing really worth making ever is.

We found this secret beach by our office that we have been spending a lot of time at lately. Not sure if we’re supposed to be there, but they will never stop us.
