If you want to skip past the usual selection of clothing that saturates today’s market and go straight to what speaks to your style—one-of-a-kind, handmade, and wonderfully vibrant—New York’s The Series might be a great place to start.

The Series was created to form a fresh and unique perspective on art forms that some would deem overlooked—such as crochets, quilts, embroidery, and the like—and design brand-new articles of clothing through recycling, reusing, and reconstruction. Quite literally, their pieces are wearable art!

Since the very beginning, The Series has only used deadstock and secondhand fabrics for their garments, as opposed to using brand-new materials, so as to adhere to their sustainability ethos. Similar to their packaging, they partner with noissue for branded, quality-made, and eco-friendly materials. Read on to learn more!

Tell us a bit about your brand, introduce it to the world!

Founded by me, Ella Wiznia, in 2016 while in recovery from an eating disorder, The Series was born as a response to the mass produced clothing I saw being advertised using unhealthy and unrealistic body types.

We rely heavily on found materials such as crochet blankets, quilt remnants and pieces of embroidery; all materials and art forms that are often overlooked and undervalued due to their association with women's work. Reworking these pieces into wearable garments is an intentional effort to elevate the materials and give them a second life outside of the home.

Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?

Our brand is centered around two core values, one being the celebration and elevation of traditional crafts and the other being sustainability. We wanted our new branding to convey our commitment to both of those things.

Our new logo was hand lettered with brush and ink as a tribute to the handmade nature of the materials we work with. We wanted to reference processes like traditional quilting and block printing in our imagery, which were drawn by hand before being digitized.

Sustainability is a core value of our brand. From the materials we source down to the thread we sew with, we use secondhand, vintage, or recycled materials. And that commitment extends to all of our branding and packaging materials, including our hangtags and the vintage ribbon they’re strung on.

What made noissue a good fit for your packaging?

We love that noissue puts such an emphasis on sustainability, and it feels very friendly to small businesses with their low minimums, as well as having a really easy website to use. There are also SO many products to choose from, and the beautiful photos of everything in action definitely help spark some ideas for our own branded goods.
